Listening for Lions is about a girl named Rachel.
A sickness called influenza was around the hospital where her mom and dad worked. Both parents caught the influenza and died.
But one patient called the Pritchards heard the story about Rachel’s parents dying. Their daughter Valerie just died of influenza, too. The Pritchard’s planned a scheme to have Rachel go to England and impersonate Valerie for the grandfather’s money.

This story is about a girl named Rachel whose parents are doctors at a hospital in Africa treating the influenza. Her parents catch the influenza and die leaving Rachel as an orphan.
She is sent to the Pritchards, a rich and greedy family who lost their daughter Valerie to the influenza. The Pritchards send Rachel to England posing as their daughter Valerie. Rachel is to fool Valerie’s grandfather so the Pritchards will inherit all of his estate.
