The Golden Sower Award Program Calendar

The Golden Sower Award Program is active throughout the year.
The GSA calendar revolves around the annual nominee lists. To better understand the Golden Sower Award Program, a calendar is outlined below with links to additional information.
August/September Golden Sower Award Program Kick-Off
Local libraries and schools introduce the current nominated titles.

Publishers and Authors contacted
GSA Committee members inform publishers and authors of titles nominated for NEXT year's program.

October NLA/NEMA Convention
Winning authors and illustrators are presented the Golden Sower Award on behalf of students throughout Nebraska.

Requests for submission
Materials for NEXT year's Golden Sower Award manual and student work for the web are made. (Don't wait to be invited...volunteer!!)

Representatives from across the state work together to guide Nebraska's Children's Choice Award Program.

December/January Golden Sower Award Committee members are busy!
February Manual Pages are due
Editor of the Golden Sower Award Manuals begin preparing those items for the printer.

Readers are busy reading the nominees!

Nominations must be received by February 15th.
 Shawna Linder (Primary and Intermediate categories) and Karon Harvey (YA category) will begin compiling lists of titles for volunteer readers.
March Keep reading the current nominees! Voting deadline is near!

"Volunteer Readers" receive reading lists
The process for selecting the next nominees moves forward. Volunteers will read many titles and assist in narrowing the list to the ten nominees in each of the Golden Sower Award categories.

April Voting Deadline
All ballots must be counted and tallies received by April 15th.

Golden Sower Award Committee Spring Meeting
Representatives from across the state work together to guide Nebraska's Children's Choice Award Program.

May Winners Announced
As soon as authors, illustrators, and publishers have been contacted, the Golden Sower Award Committee announces the winning titles.

Student work received
Libraries, districts, or schools having agreed to create student work for the web submit items to the Golden Sower Award web team.

June Manuals go to print
As soon as the manuals are printed they are available through the Golden Sower Award Store.

Volunteer readers busy reading!

July
Nominee Lists are determined
Lists are compiled with help of volunteer readers.

Libraries "gear up" for the Golden Sower Award program to begin again.
