Miranda lived a comfortable life. She studied with friends for tests, made meatloaf for dinner, and cared about her family. She followed her favorite skater’s career and wanted to be asked to prom.
Life was as normal as normal could be, until the asteroid knocked the moon out of orbit.
Miranda’s life changed dramatically that day. As if she didn’t have enough to worry about with her stepmother being pregnant and her older brother off to school, now there were tidal waves, volcanic activity and no utilities. No food. No safe water.
Her Pennsylvania home became her prison, but within her prison walls she found hope, her values and her path to survival.
In the form of first person, Susan Beth Pfeffer writes a compelling tale through Miranda’s diaries. The characters experience strong, emotional moments and are faced with life and death decisions.
We are challenged to step up to the plate with Miranda and fight for her life, even if it’s no longer life as she knew it. |
